And all is well............

Idaho or Bust

We made our annual trip to Idaho this past weekend. The boys were SO excited to go to NanaPapa's house. You can't blame them really.....they get anything they want - and I mean ANYTHING they want. We are told that is what Grandparent's are for, so we've stopped fighting it.

We drove again this year - thinking of flying with luggage, golf clubs, carseats......UGH! The drive was more eventful than in past years. We were only an hour or two behind a major tornado that hit a town we go through in Northern Colorado....and about 1/2 hour behind a tornado in Wyoming. My mom and dad were listening to the news and were concerned so they kept calling. In true Erik fashion, he was telling them about cats and cows swirling around in front of us. My Dad suggested we stop in the next town and put the boys on a plane.
It makes my heart melt to see my kids with my parents. My Mom says it's a love you can't describe. We are fortunate to be able to see them so often - we have lucky boys!

How grown up does Ben look in this picture?

Emergency Room and golf

So, it just wouldn't be a complete trip if the Isernhagen's didn't have at least one visit to the emergency room. The second night we were there we tucked the boys into bed. About 1/2 hour later I heard a scream - you know the one......not the 'I'm sort of hurt scream', but the 'come quick, something is really wrong' scream. I ran into the room to find Jake crying with a face full of blood. We didn't ask any questions, just rushed him to the hospital. He had a pretty good cut and developed a huge shiner (the picture doesn't do it justice).

Ben stayed home with Nana and Papa and my Dad got the scoop on what happened. The boys were throwing the mouse pad up in the air (they slept in the computer room). Because that's what you do when your supposed to be sleeping - right? Anyway, the pad got stuck in the ceiling fan.....Soooooo, Jake needed to get the mouse pad down. He climbed on the desk and tried to balance on the chair to reach the fan - crash!!! Right down on the computer. OUCH! I think we were lucky social services weren't called given the bruises on the other side of his face from the Rockies game incident *sigh*.

We DID get the quote of the weekend while we were at the hospital though:

Drunk guy (coming in with bloody hand): can you get a dummy a bandage?
Drunk guys wife/girlfriend: you better shut up before I leave you here.
Nurse: Are you sure you don't want a tetanus shot?
Drunk guys wife: Oh no, he's up to date on all his shots....he just got out of prison.

We took the boys golfing one day with us. They hit their clubs around our yard a lot, but it is so fun for them to be able to go to an actual course and get the ball in the hole. I am always so nervous about bothering the other golfers, but no one seems to mind. In fact, we get 'isn't that cute' comments. We've never attempted to bring the boys to a course in Denver, but I'm sure it wouldn't fly here.

My Dad was such a trooper. He had one of his wisdom teeth taken out a couple of days before we got there. Turns out, it became infected and the Dentist wasn't available during the holiday weekend. Although he stayed pretty upbeat, this picture has to describe how he was feeling.Posted by Picasa

Tortillas and Golf Cart

Nana is teaching the boys how to make homemade tortillas. Yep, she has been making her own my entire life...... and they are just about the yummiest thing ever! I guess I should learn how to make them as well, but I've never had the patience to learn the kneading into a ball and rolling out technique. It would be great if the boys could master them and make them for me :)

Here is Ben pretty darn proud of himself.

Nana also let the boys drive her around and around and around and around the cul de sac in their golf cart.

Pocatello Zoo

We had to stop by the zoo on the way out of town to see the ducks and the bear (yep, that's pretty much it...unless you get lucky and see an occasional rock chuck).

The boys think it's pretty neat, so I guess that's all that counts!

Tummy Ache

We took the boys to their first Rockies Game this weekend. We had a little accident on the way into Coors Field (Jake fell). The Coors Field possee (paramedics and all) were very nice and gave the boys baseball cards to help out - that, combined with the ice cream got us through a few innings.
Turns out, Ben REALLY likes cotton candy. He showed everyone who would look (and listen) his blue hands and face.
Daddy explaining the signifigance of baseball cards. Yep, that's blood from Jake's nose on Erik's shoulder.
'Look at my baseball cards......what, there's baseball game being played? Where? Oh right, behind me. Anyway, did you see my baseball cards?'
When we were driving home, Ben announced that he had a tummy ache......hmmmmm, I wonder why.

A conversation I wish I hadn't heard

Ben: "Jake, do you wanna come outside and see where I pooped?"
Jake: "sure"

Abby is 4

Our friend Abby turned 4 this weekend. We went to her "spa" party at Lollilocks. We had a great time making lipgloss and grape lotion for Mommy. The girls dressed up like princesses (which meant we were prince charming). They got their hair done and had manicures and pedicures. We got basketball tattoos, and the best part for us was getting our hair spiked and colored like a dinosaur. Thanks for inviting us to your party Abby - happy birthday!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day

I spent the day with my 3 favorite boys! First, I was able to sleep in (I actually woke at the same time, but laid in bed and listened to the activity happening downstairs in the kitchen - knowing the boys - all of them - would be disappointed if I came down before all laid plans were executed). When I came down, there were homemade waffles and a Grande, 3 pump vanilla, nonfat latte waiting for me. After breakfast, I opened my presents...

Erik tells me the present progression.

Thursday -
Daddy: What should we get Mommy for Mother's Day
Ben: Let's get her her own Power Ranger so she can play with us
Daddy: That's a great idea, but let's get her something else
Jake: I want to get Mommy brown pajamas
Ben: I want to get her a blue dress

Friday -
Daddy: Tell me again what you want to get Mommy for Mother's Day (thinking they might have other ideas)
Jake: I want to get her brown pajamas
Ben: I want to get her a blue dress

Saturday -
Daddy: Let's go get Mommy's present.....what are we getting her again?
Jake: Brown pajamas!
Ben: A blue dress!

so off the Nordstroms they went. As soon as they got off the escagator, great news for Ben! He had found his blue dress. Erik describes this dress as a royal blue sequenced ball gown - (in the $2000.00 price range). With the help of a sales person, they finally settled on a pucci style BCBG MAXAZRIA number. Next, they were off to intimates. Since there weren't any great brown pajamas, Jake chose a soft, yummy blue set. My boys are SWEET!!!!! - all 3 of them!

Sidenote: we went to Nordstroms for returns and then Best Buy for a brand new camcorder. BTW.....no feelings were hurt.

Next, Ben helped me plant flowers while Jake helped Daddy mow the lawn.

We then spent the rest of the day playing the park and ended with ice cream! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!

Sunday in the park

The boys wanted Erik to spin them on this "spinny thing" in the playground area. At first, it was Jake, Ben and Daddy.......then came more and more
and more! Everyone wanted to spin with the "fun daddy".
