Park and visits from friends

My friend Robyn is visiting from St. Augustine, FL with her cute little daughter Lucy (girls weekend). We went to a really fun park today where the kids were able to play around in a stream and have a picnic. Even though it was stinking HOT we had a lot of fun!

Petting Zoo

There was a little petting zoo at the park (Erik was waaaaaaaay bummed that he wasn't with us :). There was a big, fake cow that they could practice milking (because we all know how handy that knowledge is for their future), there were pigs, goats, chickens, ferrets......

Father's Day

Happy Happy Father's Day to the bestest Daddy in the whole wide world!!!! (the boys told me to write that - no, really). We had a fun day - the boys painted bricks at church this morning.
A note on the bricks said :
Daddy I love you
For all that you do.
I'll kiss you and hug you
'Cause you love me, too.

You feed me and need me
To teach you to play,
So smile 'cause I love you
On this Father's Day.

The boys wrote that - no, really.
(they are showing the bricks in the picture below - sort of).

We went to the zoo this afternoon. Daddy doesn't get a chance to go with us very often, so the boys were super excited to show them all of the animals. The REALLY like Gloria and Mumbo (yep, ALL of the penguins are named Gloria and Mumbo). We went to lunch and then came home to watch the last couple of holes of the US Open....bummer Tiger, you almost pulled it out!

We hope you had a great day Daddy! We Love You!!!

Father's Day Cont.

We made Erik a carrot cake for Father's Day. The boys helped make the frosting....or ate the frosting while I stirred.

My Poor Little Man

Yep, this Jake, all dirty faced from dinner showing me the band around his arm that has his name and vital information on it. We got it when we were in the emergency room today.

I was folding clothes this morning while the boys were playing in my closet. Jake runs to me crying as hard as I've seen him cry. After holding him and trying to get the reason for the tears, I notice that his mouth is bleeding. I don't see anything on his lips, cheek or teeth, so I assumed it was his tongue. We rinsed out his mouth and gave him some ice water. I asked "buddy, does your tongue feel better?" He told me his tongue didn't hurt, but the roof of his mouth did. HOLY COW!!!!! He had a huge gash that had turned purple with some skin hanging. I asked what he did, and he showed me a piece of pvc pipe. Mystery solved! He had the pipe in his mouth and fell down.
I won't bore with the details of me running to my neighbor and asking her what to do - thanks Tammy and Travis for keeping Ben as I ran out of my house in a panic!

Erik met us at the E.R. where they took an XRay (apparently, there is artery in your mouth - hmmmm, who knew?) Anyway, we found that he didn't damage the artery and they sent us on our way with some antibiotics and vicodin (I know, he's only 2! They had some other fancy name for vicodin, but it was still vicodin).

Just another day in The Ranch~

Idaho

We are back from our annual 'Memorial Weekend in Idaho'. We had a great time. Erik played in a golf tournament with my Dad on Friday, and then we all played golf the next day - the boys lasted 9 holes which I thought was pretty impressive. Nana and Paw Paw got them their first set of real clubs.....CUTE! (check out Nana and Paw Paw new decked out golf cart). We mostly hung out the rest of the time, playing, kite flying, BBQ'ing, more golf, eating (WAY too much). Oh, and we went to the Pocatello Zoo. When they found out they were going to the zoo, the boys wanted to see the Lions and Giraffes and Elephants. But, let's get real.....this was the Pocatello Zoo. The boys instead saw ducks, elk and grizzley bears. Much to Erik's dismay, there was another petting zoo (he's not a big fan of the smell). All in all a lovely weekend.
