HockeyTime

Because it's Stanley Cup Playoff time, there has been a lot of hockey talkin' and watchin' around our house. This of course means that hockey is the sport of choice at the moment. The boys put on their skates and challenged daddy to a game when he came home from work tonight.

I wish I could capture the intensity and action going on in these shots. It was a serious game for sure!

You gotta love the jammy/skate comboPosted by Picasa

Zoo Day

No real excuse for the slack job I've done with the blog, so I won't even try to make one up. Went to the zoo with the Ferre boys last week. It was SOOOO crowded! I think everyone is excited to come out of the thaw. I have to say my heart sank when I drove up to the parking lot and saw approx. 8 school buses parked out front. I thought about doing what any sane person (without kids) would do and turn right around and go home. But, I did what any parent would do after already telling their children they were going to the zoo..... I sucked it up. I don't pretend that I did this to be a Saint to my boys, I did it so I wouldn't have to hear wails coming from the back seat "YOU SAID WE WERE GOING TO THE ZOO!!!! I WANT TO SEE THE PEEEEEEEEEENGUINS!!!!" So, I thought that since I braved the crowd and went in, all would be well and I would have 2 happy, content boys who think their Mommy is the bestest Mommy in the whole world because she took them to the zoo. No sireeee, that's not what happened at all. Whining ensued. So, I did what I had to do.....bribed them with ice cream.

Peter the Great!

We were sitting behind the penalty box for a recent Stanley Cup playoff game. I think this may be the closest I ever get to Forsberg.....I'll take it!

Trail Dust

When was the last time you went to the Traildust? For me, I think it's probably been about 10 years ago. We went for a birthday party....the boys had a GREAT time. I didn't remember the big slide in the middle of the restaraunt. I'm sure we will have to go back again soon. Erik was on a golf trip when we went, so he wasn't there - the boys told him all about it when it got home. "Daddy, we are going to take you to a place with a BIG slide - big enough for you to fit on. I think you will have a lot of fun".

We're Back!

We had a GREAT time in the Bahamas. We stayed at the Atlantis again. To recap....we had lots of yummy meals, golfed, jet skied, danced, swam with dolphins, got massages, went to the casino (I won!), saw some movies, played in the water and just plain ole relaxed!
This is the Ocean Club golf course - gorgeous!
Patio of our room
There is a Marina at the Atlantis with HUGE boats parked all along....the one behind me in this picture is one of my favs - notice the jet skis AND helicopter on the boat? What would you do if you were caught out in the middle of the ocean and needed to run to the grocery store for some milk? Just take the helicopter.

The Dolphins

One of the highlights of the trip was hanging out with the Dolphins. When we signed up for "swim with the dolphins" I thought I'm sure we'll go in and pet them and be done. Nope, it was much more! We put on our snorkel gear, got a little motorized thing (I'm sure that's not the technical name), and actually swam with them! Then we got on this little boogy board...we put our legs out straight and the dolphins actually gave us a ride. I LOVE dolphins. They are so sweet and SMART! I wanted to bring one home with us, but we settled for two little stuffed dolphins from the gift shop.

Bahamas Cont.

This picture of Erik cracks me up! I caught him actually twiddling his thumbs. For those of you who know Erik, he is not a sitter arounder....he is a do er. He likes to be out in the sun by the water, but has to have an activity. For those of you who know me, I LOVE sitting by the water in the sun relaxing and reading a book (BTW... Sophia Kinsella's Remember Me is good). Being the great husband he is, Erik occasionally offered to hang out with me. Looks like he is having a great time, doesn't it?

Why was I worried?

Before we left, I was worried about being away from the boys for 7 days (the longest we had ever left them was 5). I tossed and turned and couldn't sleep well the first night thinking about 6 more days without my sweet little blondies. I got over that quickly!!! The boys were having a wonderful time with Nana and Papa. There was plenty of swimming, Mickey D's, Toys R Us, finger painting (one thing I don't do with them often because of the mess), play dough (again, the mess), candy, ice cream, and getting waited on hand and foot.
We would make phone calls home -
Nana - "Jake and Ben, Mommy and Daddy are on the phone. Do you want to talk to them?"
Boys - "Uhm, not right now."

I've been getting told -
"Mommy, you're doing it wrong. Nana does it this way".
Grrrrr!

Thanks to Nana and Papa for coming to play.
