School Project

The boys come home from school with some sort of craft or project everyday. This is one of my favorites.
They were given a big stack of magazines/catalogs and told to cut out pictures that represent their family. I have to be honest, I LOVE the fact that BOTH of my boys think of me as a 6 foot, super skinny, 20 something J-Crew Model. Ben said "and that is your necklace and big purse". These are keepers!

Napa

After Erik's golf tournament we headed to wine country in Napa Valley, CA. The weather was perfect - we went with some wonderful people, we stayed at a great place (Napa Valley Lodge), and ate and drank WAY too much - it was perfect!
I hope those wonderful people will pass along some pictures - turns out I didn't take enough.

In the caves of one our tours - tons of wine in those barrels.
The cute little courtyard at our hotel.

More Napa

We went on private tours of two wineries - Castellina Di Amorosa which was in a castle and to Domain Chandon and learned how they make sparkling wines (Deborah would have loved this one).

More aging wine in the caves.
This was one of our tour guides. We tasted 13 of their wines - this is totally how they getcha. Here, taste this, and this, and this. The next thing you know, you are shipping a case of wine home.Posted by Picasa

Champions PGA Tour Pro Am

Erik was invited to play in a Pro Am at a PGA Champions tour event in Hickory, NC last week. (Pro Am - a day before a big tournament a Professional plays a round with an Amateur - for charity)

The Champions Tour has the guys like Nick Price, Hale Irwin, Greg Norman, Craig Stadler etc. on it. Erik played with a really nice guy from California named Pat Laverty - he just joined the tour recently. Although he didn't play a round with a big name, Erik found himself on the driving range and practice greens with a few of them.

In the first picture he is putting with Curtis Strange (Erik in the blue). OK, so he may not have been putting WITH him, but he was close.

The tournament was a shotgun start and as soon as they headed out to their first tee box it started to rain.

Pro Am

I went along to watch Erik play and even though it rained most of the time I really enjoyed being there.

WOW can it rain in North Carolina!

This is where Ben tells me "bye mommy".
"We aren't leaving yet Ben, we are staying for a bit to talk to your teacher".
"That's ok, other mommy's and daddy's are leaving now so you can go too".
The big walk in to school.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

I remember going there as a kid, but don't remember it being nearly as neat as it is now. This is now our new favorite zoo. As you can tell from the pictures below, it is very interactive. You can feed the giraffes (I think we bought $30 worth of crackers - worth it).

There is another area called "budgies" that you can go in and feed the birds. Ben was SO excited to go in but got cold feet when it was time to feed them. Jake on the other hand had no fear at all.

The only REAL fear of the day was when the boys wanted to ride the tram to the top of the mountain. Erik was a trooper but held on for dear life (there was no way he was going to let his kids know he is afraid of anything - especially anything as silly as heights). Posted by Picasa
