Traditions

As I think of Christmas as a child, thumbprint, butter and candy cane cookies come to mind.  We would go on our annual holiday trip to Illinois and arrive to plates and a freezer full of my Grandma Betty's Christmas cookies.  My mom has continued the cookies and now the boys are helping me make them.

When Erik asked me why there was a 'green alien in my cookie' I thought he was attempting another sexual joke...then I took a closer look.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving from the Isernhagen gang.

The boys wanted to let everyone know what they are thankful for:
Ben is thankful for chocolate milk and snow and Jake is thankful for his Batman cave.
I am thankful for my family :)

Erik and the boys are packing up the car - we are headed to the mountains (how much stuff do 4 people need for a 5 day trip? Apparently...ALOT!!!!!

Happy Birthday Zoe

Hope your day is great!  Thank you for inviting us to your party.  Monkey Bizness, pizza, cake and juice - who could ask for more?

This was the temp. today.  I took this toward the evening - I think it was actually 75 degrees today - uhm....today is November 18th - craaaazy!

Oh, the other pictures are from Friday. How is a girl to adjust to this?  Put away summer clothes, take out summer clothes, put away summer clothes, take out summer clothes.

Oh, and Erik's last hockey game was early enough for us to go.  The boys LOVE it!

Hot Soup

What are the boys doing right this minute?.....making Hot Vanilla Poop Soup! Yuck!

I can bet if I had two little girls outside cooking in the sandbox I wouldn't being getting icky "poop soup". I'm sure it would be a delightful meal...possibly a strawberry shortcake mousse, or lemon cupcakes....

BTW - no 'real' poop was used in the making of this soup.

Election Day

The boys and I spent election day together.  We went to the polls and voted, got our free doughnut at Krispy Kreem (and a couple more) while we watched the doughnuts being made (and even got invited into the kitchen for a closer look), went to Barnes and Nobel for a book and our free cup of coffee at Starbucks, then off to Monkey Bizness for some goofin' around.

My favorite quote of the day:
-let me start by saying that the boys had a voting day at preschool yesterday.  They learned about the candidates and were able to vote in their own booth and even got the "i voted" stickers-

While getting out of the car to vote.

Jake:  Mom, are you voting for? John McCain or Barack Obama?
Mom:  well, who did you vote for Jake?
Jake:  I voted for Barack Obama
Mom:  Really? Why?
Jake: Because I don't think John McCain has a chance to win.

Out of the mouth of a 4 year old.

Top Denver Telecom Company buys No. 2 Firm in Market
LINX makes second acquisition in 15 months

Denver, Colo. (Nov. 3, 2008) – LINX LLLP, a communications infrastructure provider, acquired Sequel Communications Monday in a deal that will create a combined $32 million-a-year company.

LINX and Sequel are considered, respectively, the No. 1 and No. 2 voice and data cable installation companies in Denver, according to industry vendors. Both companies were established in 2003 and have been the fastest growing businesses in their market sector and geographic region for the past five years.

“This purchase by LINX brings together two market leaders that will be able to provide unmatched buying power and talent in Colorado,” LINX president Erik Isernhagen said. “As the clear market leader, LINX will be able to set the tone for quality installation standards and help clients remain on time and on budget.”

LINX generated more than $23 million in revenue last year — up more than 62 percent from 2006. It was recently listed on the Inc. 5000 and the magazine ranked LINX No. 19 on the Top 50 businesses in Denver and No. 34 for the Top 100 telecommunications companies in the country.

Last year, LINX expanded its business into the audio and visual systems marketplace with the purchase of Denver-based ANSI. That purchase created additional services for LINX clients’ commercial audio/visual needs, including video conferencing.

LINX operates four lines of business: voice and data cable installation, security systems integration, audio and visual systems integration, and voice and data services. Two recent LINX customers include The Children’s Hospital at Fitzsimons and Visa.

Sequel generated $13 million in revenue for 2007 and its customers include Sun Microsystems and University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

“This acquisition will combine two of the fastest growing telecommunications companies in the Rocky Mountain region and will provide expanded career opportunities for our employees,” Sequel president Ivan Graumann said.

The combined company will employ 140 workers.

There seems to be a problem....

Tools from the Home Depot play bench were coming up from the basement.  They had a screw driver, electric drill and a wrench. Following them into the laundry room I asked:

"watcha doin?"
"we are Handy Manny and we just got a call about an electrical problem with your washer"
They are fixing and working away and yell
"Mommy! come quick - we are going to need to call Fireman Sam..."
"uhm, why"
"there seems to be a fire in the washer - Fireman Sam and his crew will come put it out"

Too much tv?....perhaps.

Happy Halloween!

After school it was time to go to the "Ragamuffin Parade" hosted in our neighborhood.  There was a kid band, Lone Tree Police, and McGruff the crime dog.  The boys had fun and it was nice to meet some new neighbors. On the walk home Ben found a yard with skeletons hanging out and wanted his pik with it.  Goofball.

After the parade we went to our old neighborhood and trick or treated with the Gentry's.  We've gone with them since the boys were 1 and thought it just didn't feel right going without them.   I'm sure next year will stick in the the hood, but for now....

School.....

Halloween was BIIIIIZZZZY!  The boys dressed up for school - did a little parade around the halls - sang halloween songs (I didn't know halloween songs existed - I'm learning all kinds of things at preschool) - baked cookies and had a pizza party.

They kept changing back and forth from Power Rangers to Buzz and Woody.  I'm so glad the Toy Story costumes still fit - they have to be my favorite.

Trick or Treat - Linx Style

We started the trick or treat festivities at Erik's office - sort of the appetizer.  It was fun to see how everyone's kids have grown over the years.
