Food, Fireworks and Obama

Setting: The backyard, dining room table and front porch.
The Characters: Ferres, Perlas and Isernhagens
What: Dinner, games, fireworks and funny kid antics.

More fireworks - Jake asked if it was Fourth of July AGAIN? There was only one burn injury (it was my husband), but I consider that lucky with the amount of adult beverages consumed earlier in the night.
See the cute little girl sitting on Miss Julia's lap in the middle? Her Mommy and Daddy kept referring to her as Barack Obama - "Barack Obama, eat your dinner" Barack Obama, do you want more milk".......wha?!?!?!? Apparently, a few weeks ago she was watching a golf tournament and decided she was Tiger Woods. 'My name isn't Amelia, it's Tiger Woods!!!!!!!'. Then.... A couple of days ago she was watching the Today show and saw Him. She would NOW be referred to as Barack Obama. I'm sure someone with a high level degree in psychology would have fun analyzing this - but instead, it's good for a laugh.Posted by Picasa

99 Degrees!!!!!

That was the temp. today, so we went to the "whale" pool to beat the heat.

Yep, I see the sign to the right of the whale - Ben starts with his feet first, but is so little that the little water pressure takes over :)
The boys have a little lifeguard crush. She stays by them when they are in the water because she thinks they are funny. They started to splash her...but wait! is she allowed to splash them back? Well, she did. The game went on for 1/2 hour.

Wall E

Took the boys to see this today.

Obstacle Course

This is out of order......the boys did a jumpy tent obstacle course at the Highlands Ranch celebration. I LOVE how the boys just jump in and go for it!

We couldn't decide if Ben's helmet is protecting him or hindering him.

On Saturday we went to dinner with Grandma and Grandpa and then to their house for fireworks. When we got back to our house, we were summoned by the neighbors to finish up the fireworks from the night before. Turns out, you can't EVER let off enough fireworks. Bedtimes were 11:00 and 11:30 past couple of nights. Off to bed early tonight!

Finale!

The big finale firework was the 'Underwater Fury' (the one that Ben is holding - he said "this one now!" every time he had an opening. So in the end Erik let off the big one.....we were all watching, and Ben jumps up and runs to his chair - we were telling him to come back or he would miss it. Turns out he was getting his flag to wave. It seemed Underwater fury brought out his patriotism. It was SOOOOO cute! But by the time he got back to his seat, the pops stopped. Upset is an understatement....so we let off a smoke bomb and let him wave his flag. And I'm proud to be an American - la, la, la, la, la, la, la.

Fireworks!

After the festivities at Highlands Ranch Town Center, we BBQ'd with our friends the Gentry's and then lit some fun stuff in the street.

Earlier in the day we parked our car in a "sweet spot" (say the kids) and drove another car back with chairs and blankets to watch the HR fireworks show. We were so close it seemed they were coming down on our head (they weren't). The boys didn't get scared at all.....the open mouth pik was their pose for the entire display.
